The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced, compassionate, and patient-centered respiratory care, administering and assessing therapeutic interventions like mechanical ventilation with minimal supervision. This role involves developing and refining care plans, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring equipment functionality.
Candidates must be a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing in Virginia, preferably a graduate of an accredited program, holding CRT with 10+ years of experience or RRT, with at least one year of experience as an RT. Required certifications include AHA BLS at hire, with AHA ACLS and NRP required within 90 days depending on the specific location/unit.
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing within the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care preferred, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with 10+ years of experience or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Minimum of one year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist. AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire. AHA ACLS required within 90 days of hire at MWH. NRP required within 90 days of hire for SH; required for NICU only at MWH within 90 days of hire Specialty credentials through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), preferred. Member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC), preferred. Required Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) walking, standing, use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination; ability to work in confined spaces; ability to reach above/overhead. Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards: Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
