The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for administering anesthetics and adjunctive medications, monitoring patients under anesthesia, and initiating corrective actions based on professional judgment. Responsibilities also encompass leadership, educational functions, preoperative assessment, anesthetic management, and post-anesthesia care.
Candidates must graduate from accredited schools of nursing and anesthesia, hold national CRNA certification, and possess Michigan licenses for registered nursing and specialty certification in anesthesia. A Master's degree in anesthesia or a related area is preferred.
