- Participates in a process of instruction and activity to perform electroencephalography (EEG) and long-term monitoring (LTM) via scalp and intracranial electrodes on adult and pediatric patients of all Neurophysiology Programs including Epilepsy Surgery and Pediatric Monitoring Programs.
- Prepares equipment and supplies for such procedures.
- Aids advanced neurophysiology staff, and providers in performing neurodiagnostic and similar studies as required.
- Provides and supports real-time neurotelemetry, monitoring patients undergoing testing within the critical care EEG (CCEEG) LTM program across YNHHS, including the adult and pediatric epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs).
- Alerts appropriate care team for STAT response to patient room for all witnessed seizures and events in question with a focus on patient safety, reducing risk of falls and capturing events on video.
- Monitors and annotates the recording within neurodiagnostic system, and reports on electrographic features and clinical manifestations noted in the video recording.
- Performs troubleshooting and notifications requiring repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Provides communication and relays to lead technologist as necessary regarding critical findings to be conveyed to the clinical team.
- Notifies NeuroDTS/biomedical device integration (BMDI) team concerning through designated protocols concerning repair, maintenance, and technological responsibilities.
- Thus, ensuring and adhering to quality standards as set forth in national standards, including the American Clinical Neurophysiology (ACNS) guidelines.
- Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration.
- This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff and support department personnel.
