The Clinical Laboratory Scientist I performs procedures in clinical laboratory areas, ensuring specimen acceptability and accuracy of results, while also calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment with proper documentation. This role includes assisting in the training and orientation of new staff and interacting professionally with internal and external customers.
Candidates must meet the minimum education requirements set by certification or licensure, with 0-6 months of minimum experience required, though 1-2 years is preferred. A mandatory requirement is holding an MTA - CA Med Tech (CLS) or MTD - Clinical Immunohematologist license, or being a current CLS CA Trainee expecting licensure within 90 days of hire.
CLS Trainee awaiting full CA licensure are restricted to duties of processing and setup of specimens with no test performance, verification or release of results. LIS access and security would be set up at the Trainee level.
