The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for conducting preoperative assessments, preparing the operating room, and providing intraoperative support to the surgical team. They also ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical procedure.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license in Kansas. Previous experience in the operating room is preferred, along with BLS certification and strong clinical skills.

Patient Assessment: Conduct preoperative assessments, review patient histories, and verify necessary documentation and consent. Operating Room Preparation: Ensure the operating room is properly set up, including arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Patient Positioning: Assist with positioning the patient safely and comfortably on the operating table. Sterile Environment Maintenance: Monitor and maintain a sterile field, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Intraoperative Support: Provide support to the surgical team by managing the flow of the procedure, documenting operative details, and responding to the needs of the surgical team. Supply Management: Ensure availability of necessary supplies and equipment, anticipating the needs of the surgical team. Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical procedure.
Coordinate and communicate with the surgical team, anesthesia team, and other healthcare professionals.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as state and federal guidelines.
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
Ability to lift and move patients and surgical equipment as necessary. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Ability to handle physical and emotional stress.
