The Clinical Social Worker I serves as the clinical expert responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients and families, providing social work consultation to interdisciplinary teams across inpatient and ambulatory settings. The scope of practice includes diagnostic assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, brief treatment, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work and hold a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in Connecticut or a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) license in Rhode Island, or meet requirements for endorsement. Specific experience requirements apply based on the state licensure requirements, such as 3,000 post-masters hours and 100 hours of supervision for Connecticut LCSW.

EDUCATION Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work. EXPERIENCE For Connecticut, consistent with LCSW licensure requirements, 3,000 hours of post-masters social work experience and 100 hours of post-masters clinical supervision. For Rhode Island, consistent with LICSW licensure requirements, 24 months of experience licensed as a licensed clinical social worker under appropriate supervision. LICENSURE Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the State of Connecticut, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) from the State of Rhode Island, or those holding licenses from other states, will need an 'endorsement' and meet the State of Connecticut or State of Rhode Island license requirements SPECIAL SKILLS The Social Worker will possess the following special skills: empathy, active listening, critical thinking, strong organizational and computer skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with and advocate for patients and families.
