About the role

The registered nurse coordinates and provides patient care, assuming individual responsibility and accountability for nursing services under the Nurse Manager. Activities include assessing and documenting IV infusions of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies, as well as performing central line access and patient education.

Job Description

SCOPE

Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care. An ideal candidate should be able to assess and prioritize patient needs, have good time management and pay strict attention to details. Must be able to work independently, and work well with others. Activities include patient assessment and documentation of IV infusions of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, IM and SC injections, central line access, dressing changes, therapeutic phlebotomies, patient education, patient triage and coordination of care through a multi-disciplinary approach.

Qualifications

1. Registered Nurse, BA and/or OCN Certification preferred.

2. 3 years of nursing experience in a clinic, Oncology nursing experience preferred.

3. RN, Louisiana State Board of Nursing license and CPR required

4. OCN required within 2 years of attaining position.

5. Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card required, or obtained within 30 days of hire

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Registered Nurse license in Louisiana and current CPR certification, with three years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in an Oncology clinic setting. OCN certification is required within two years of employment, and the ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
