The Licensed Psychiatric Technician performs general nursing procedures, behavior management, direct care, and training according to individual needs, while also participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team to develop support plans. Responsibilities include timely reporting of resident conditions, ensuring accurate medical documentation, and adhering to all regulatory reporting requirements as a Mandated Reporter.
Candidates must possess and maintain a valid, active license as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in the State of California and preferably have a minimum of one year of experience in the Human Services field. Additional requirements include passing background checks, obtaining necessary health screenings, completing mandatory trainings like DSP1/DSP2/First Aid/CPR, and holding a valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
Perform all procedures within LPT scope of practice. Acts independently to collect vital signs and data in order to notify physician and Interdisciplinary Team (IDTeam) members of resident’s condition in a timely manner. Ensures that all medical documentation in the home are completed, including but not limited to: nursing notes, weekly summaries, 24 Hour Log, Medication Administration Record, and Centrally Stored Medication Log. Ensures that the Physician’s Orders are being followed as written Documents and reports all events as required by DDS, Regional Center, and CCL Responsible for training staff on clinical aspects of health care and Health Care Plans. Ensures the proper level of equipment and supplies are maintained Ensures proper documentation is maintained Respects at all times the confidentiality of residential records and uses complete discretion when discussing information. Maintains communication with Program Administrator, families, hospitals, etc. Supports residents with self-care, self-administration of medications, and independent living skills including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, and grooming. Supports residents in activities of daily living, personal hygiene, and household activities including but not limited to grocery shopping, food preparation, serving and clean-up, as indicated in the IPP. Implements Behavior Plans and Health Care Plans. Member of the IDTeam in designated aspects of the development and implementation of the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP) outcomes, and overall programming for residents. Supports residents in occupational, recreational, vocational, and therapeutic programs. Maintains a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment which promotes respect and dignity for residents and protects the privacy, rights, confidentiality, and physical/emotional well-being of residents. Engages residents in activities that provide opportunities for learning and practice of skills tailored to the specific needs of the resident. Supports residents in the constructive use of leisure time. Encourages residents to participate in planned recreational activities. Actively supervises during dining, recreational activities, medical and other appointments. Knows and reports the whereabouts of the assigned residents at all times. May transport residents in the company vehicle to medical, recreational and/or other appointments. Attends staff meetings; including and not limited to in-services and training sessions. Maintains all required trainings and certifications as required by regulations and Elwyn CA. Reports and documents medical/behavioral concerns and other special incidents to proper supervisory personnel. Remains on duty until endorsement is completed with incoming licensed staff. Consistently demonstrates the ability to maintain quality assurance standards and promotes Elwyn CA goals and objectives in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. Continually works with staff members in creating a professional and amiable atmosphere; encourages and supports co-workers to work as a team. Provides ongoing training and feedback to DSPs, LPTs, and LVNs as needed. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in workload. Assists with health care and/or behavioral needs and documents appropriately. Completes assigned work in a timely manner and strives to make good use of time. Gives feedback to Program Administrator regarding any issues affecting home operations and resident care; including immediate notification of any changes in care needs. Collaborates with Program Administrator regarding staffing needs. Seeks and accepts help and/or guidance from Program Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Elwyn CA Administration as appropriate. Responds to emergencies appropriately as directed by all health care/behavior plans, regulations, and/or policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: Possess and maintain a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician. Minimum 1 year experience with Human Services field preferred. Must complete a DOJ and FBI fingerprint and criminal clearance and be free of convictions barring employment in this position under applicable statute or regulation. Must have a valid health screening with clear TB test within 1 year prior to hire or no later than 7 days after hire. Upon hire, must complete all trainings as required by applicable regulations, including but not limited to: DSP1, DSP2, First Aid, CPR/AED certifications. Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record.
