The palliative care physician is responsible for the medical care and treatment plan for seriously ill patients within the palliative care service, consulting and cooperating with the patient's attending physician(s). This role involves providing direction and guidance to palliative team members to ensure quality care and adherence to standards, as well as educating team members and other healthcare professionals on palliative care benefits.
The physician must be capable of managing the medical care and treatment plan for seriously ill patients on the palliative care service while collaborating with attending physicians. A key requirement is the ability to direct team members, ensure adherence to palliative care standards, and provide educational outreach regarding palliative care to various healthcare audiences.
