The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is clinically responsible for monitoring recipient treatment and staff delivery of clinical services, acting as the prescriber for all Youth ACT clients. Key duties include conducting psychiatric assessments, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, and providing supportive therapy to individuals, groups, and families.

The Youth ACT Team serves children/youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) throughout Westchester and Rockland counties, who are returning home from inpatient settings or residential services, at risk of entering such settings, or have not adequately engaged or responded to treatment in more traditional community-based services. Youth ACT team delivers intensive, highly coordinated, individualized services and skilled therapeutic interventions through an integrated, multi-disciplinary team approach to better achieve success and maintain the child in the home, school and community.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), under the supervision of the psychiatrist and in conjunction with the team leader, has clinical responsibility for monitoring recipient treatment and staff delivery of clinical services.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides mobile hybrid services which include both telehealth and face to face appointments with youth and families in their home, community, and/or agency office.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment; clinical supervision, education, and training of the team; and development, maintenance, and supervision of medication administration and psychiatric and medical treatment and procedures.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will support recovery by providing services that reflect our deeply held values that include the recognition of individual rights of self-determination, choice, shared decision-making, and collaboration.
When possible, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will utilize evidence-based practices; always embracing a trauma-informed and person-centered approach.
Experience understanding family systems based on the diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Experience and understanding of various evidence-based models and theories pertaining to psycho-education, motivational interviewing, serious emotional disturbance and recovery.
Knowledge of Assertive Community Treatment, family support services, and community resources.
Use of Motivational Interviewing, recovery, and trauma-informed approaches when delivering services.
Highly organized and self-motivated.
Proficient in computers.
Familiarity with and ability to use an Electronic Health Record system.
Effective crisis intervention skills.
Act as prescriber for all Youth ACT clients.
Upholds fidelity to the Youth ACT model.
Timely and accurate documentation in accordance with GMH documentation policy.
Active participation in multidisciplinary teams and case conferences.
Ensure that all productivity expectations are met.
