The kennel technician is responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of hospitalized patients and boarding clients, which includes tasks like cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, walking dogs, and administering medication. Responsibilities also involve restocking supplies, assisting with post-operative patients, supporting doctors during restraint and exams, and maintaining accurate records of patient status.
Candidates must possess knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods, proper animal restraint techniques, and the ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor, such as handling large dogs or heavy bags of supplies. Essential qualities include the ability to patiently attend to sick or injured animals and the capacity to learn medication administration and recognize abnormal conditions.
