The Registered Respiratory Therapist collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized respiratory care plans, aiming for optimal health or a peaceful death. This role involves utilizing scientific evidence and compassion to guide patients through their health journey while accepting responsibility for care provision according to established policies.
Candidates must possess an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's preferred) and be registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care with current RCP licensure in the applicable state, including VA State Licensure. Required certifications include BLS upon hire, with ACLS, NRP, and PALS to be completed within 90 days, along with CRT or RRT certification.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist serves as an intricate member of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized respiratory plan of care that promotes optimal health or a comforting peaceful death. The Registered Respiratory Therapist utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Respiratory Therapist accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
Associate's Degree/Certificate required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
