About the Role

Are you a Nurse Practitioner who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact clinical environment? Thundermist Health Center is looking for a skilled, compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our Convenient Care team. In this role, you’ll deliver walk-in and same-day medical care to patients across our community — treating acute illness and injury, performing point-of-care testing and minor procedures, and making real-time clinical decisions as an autonomous, licensed provider. What You’ll Do Clinical Care Provide comprehensive patient care including history, physical examination, anticipatory guidance, and management of acute and chronic illness Evaluate and treat acute, episodic illness and injury — lacerations, fractures, sprains, infections, and more Perform point-of-care testing (rapid strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis, STI, and more) Perform wound care, suturing, splinting, and minor surgical procedures Order diagnostic tests (X-ray, ultrasound, labs) and initiate treatment based on results Prescribe medications within scope of practice Triage patients and determine the appropriate level of care, escalation, or transfer Provide discharge instructions and coordinate appropriate follow-up care Maintain complete and accurate patient records with same-day documentation Supervise and mentor nurse practitioner students as assigned Administrative & Quality Participate in peer chart review on a rotating basis Contribute to departmental and team meetings Meet patient throughput and productivity standards Maintain compliance with credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging requirements Participate in quality improvement initiatives What We’re Looking For You bring clinical expertise, sound judgment, and genuine compassion to every patient encounter. You’re an autonomous provider who’s equally comfortable suturing a laceration, and connecting with a patient who just needs to be heard. Active Rhode Island RN and NP licensure ANA certification in family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, or pediatrics Commitment to ongoing CEU and professional development Exceptional oral and written communication skills with proficiency in medical terminology A genuine commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care for diverse and underserved populations, with an authentic passion for health equity and community health Compassion, cultural humility, and a real investment in patient well-being — consistent with Thundermist’s mission Schedule & Locations This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position with a flexible shift structure: two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week. The schedule includes every other weekend and shared holiday coverage. You’ll provide care across our Woonsocket, West Warwick, and South Kingstown locations. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., and weekends 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (including closing responsibilities). Requirements

Candidates must possess Rhode Island RN and NPP Licensure along with ANA Certification in a relevant specialty (family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, or pediatrics) and maintain ongoing Continuing Education Units. The role requires moderate physical activity, exposure to biohazards, and involves a float schedule covering every other weekend and shared holidays across specified Rhode Island locations.
