About the role

The Residence Counselor provides services to adults diagnosed with mental illness living in a group home, which includes offering supportive counseling and teaching rehabilitation skills like daily living and coping mechanisms. Duties also involve facilitating recreation activities, maintaining a clean environment, and providing necessary client transportation.

Residence Counselor- Full Time Please join us for open interviews for the Residence Counselor position: Rescheduled date of Thursday, August 6th 10:00am-12:00pm 201 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY Responsibilities of the Residence Counselor are to provide services to adults who have a diagnosis of mental illness and living in a group home.

Specific duties of the Residence Counselor included: Provide supportive counseling; Providing rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention; Recreation activities for socialization and stress reduction; and Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients, ensuring clients are doing their chores correctly and assisting with cleaning activities.

Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.

Provide transportation to clients using the agency’s vehicles.

Skills/Qualifications for the Residence Counselor include: High school diploma required, college classes in human services preferred.

Demonstrated ability in helping others.

Valid and insurable driver's license.

Agency vehicles are available for transporting clients.

Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience.

Both the ability to work independently and as a team member.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

The ability to be organized and have good time management skills.

Jones Home Schedule and Salary $21.46/hour, 40 hours per week. $44,636.80/annual equivalent.

Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm Monday 3:00pm-11:00pm Tuesday 3:00pm-11:00pm Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm Thursday 11:00am- 7:00pm Friday and Saturday- Off 1574 Union Residence Salary and Schedule: $21.46/hour, 40 hours per week. $44,636.80/annual equivalent.

Sunday 3:00pm-11:00pm Monday 3:00pm-11:00pm Tuesday 3:00pm-11:00pm Wednesday 3:00pm-11:00pm Thursday 3:00pm-11:00pm Friday and Saturday Off Emmanuel House Salary and Schedule: $21.46/hour, 40 hours per week. $44,636.80/annual equivalent.

Sunday and Monday-Off Tuesday 8:00am-4:00pm Wednesday 8:00am-4:00pm Thursday 3:00pm-11:00pm Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm Dominion House Salary and Schedule: $22.08/hour; 40 hours per week; $45,926.40/annual equivalent.
