The Surgical Technologist I ensures all necessary supplies and equipment are available and functional for surgical procedures, while accurately accounting for medications, sharps, and instruments. This role involves maintaining the sterile environment, recognizing technique breaks, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon during operations.
Candidates must possess knowledge of surgical procedures acquired through a CAAHEP-accredited program or military training, and must obtain NBSTSA or NCCT certification within six months of hire. Experience levels range from recent graduates awaiting certification to certified technologists with up to two years of experience, requiring proficiency in scrubbing basic procedures.
