The Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures according to physician orders, covering duties such as administering various respiratory treatments and monitoring vital signs. Responsibilities also include performing cardiopulmonary procedures, ensuring equipment safety, adhering to infectious disease standards, and educating patients and staff.
Candidates must complete an AMA-approved 2-year Associate Degree program in Respiratory Care and maintain all required North Carolina state licensure and NBRC certifications, including BLS and potentially ACLS/PALS/NRPS depending on the level. Experience requirements vary, with the RCP Advanced level requiring six months to one year of clinical experience post-graduation.

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Defined duties are performed in neonatal and pediatric patient populations.
