Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of neurologic disorders in infants, children, and adolescents, including outpatient clinic care and inpatient consultations. This involves developing treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic studies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Requires an MD or DO from an accredited medical school, completion of accredited Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology residency/fellowship programs, and board eligibility/certification in Pediatric Neurology. Must obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure and DEA registration.
Pediatric Neurologist (MD/DO)
The Pediatric Neurologist provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of neurologic disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. This role focuses on evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and longitudinal management of acute and chronic pediatric neurologic conditions across outpatient and inpatient settings. Evaluate and manage pediatric patients with neurologic conditions including epilepsy, headache disorders, neuromuscular disease, movement disorders, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, neurometabolic disorders, and neurogenetic conditions Provide outpatient pediatric neurology clinic care and inpatient consultation services as needed Perform comprehensive neurologic histories and examinations Develop and implement individualized diagnostic and treatment plans Interpret diagnostic studies including EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging, and laboratory testing as applicable Manage neurologic medications and monitor treatment response Collaborate with primary care providers, pediatric subspecialists, rehabilitation services, behavioral health, and allied health professionals Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and care conferences Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, prognosis, and disease management Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicable Participate in on-call coverage for pediatric neurology services Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited Pediatrics residency program Completion of an accredited Pediatric Neurology residency or fellowship program Board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Neurology Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Expertise in pediatric neurologic disease diagnosis and management Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning skills Excellent communication and family-centered care abilities Ability to manage complex and chronic pediatric neurologic conditions Commitment to evidence-based, compassionate, patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient pediatric neurology clinics with inpatient consultation responsibilities Schedule typically includes clinic hours with on-call coverage as required Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments Manual dexterity for pediatric neurologic examinations and procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and diagnostic interpretation
