The Hospitalist Physician provides comprehensive inpatient medical care, focusing on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing acute medical conditions and chronic disease exacerbations. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary care, facilitating safe transitions of care, and performing daily patient assessments, rounding, and discharges.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO from an accredited medical school and have completed an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program. Board eligibility or certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required, along with the ability to obtain unrestricted state medical licensure and DEA registration.

Provide direct inpatient care for hospitalized patients Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and daily patient assessments Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and complications of chronic medical conditions Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Manage patient admissions, daily rounding, and discharges Respond to changes in patient condition, including urgent and emergent clinical issues Coordinate care with consulting specialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care coordination meetings Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions Ensure safe transitions of care and appropriate outpatient follow-up Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and utilization management initiatives Supervise and educate residents, medical students, or advanced practice providers as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program Board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Strong inpatient clinical assessment and decision-making skills Ability to manage complex, acutely ill patients Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills Strong organizational and documentation abilities Commitment to evidence-based, high-quality patient care Work Environment Acute care hospital inpatient units Schedule may include day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on program structure Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout hospital units Manual dexterity for bedside assessments and procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient evaluation and communication
