The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs nuclear scans under the direction of a radiologist, requiring technical skill without constant supervision. Responsibilities include ordering necessary isotopes, maintaining equipment and the hot lab according to regulations, performing quality control, and managing radiation safety logs.
Candidates must have satisfactorily completed formal radiological training in an AMA-approved school of Nuclear Medicine and possess three years of experience as a registered nuclear medicine technologist in an acute care hospital. A Florida State License through the Bureau of Radiation Control is mandatory, along with current BLS/CPR certification.
