The Phlebotomist will safely perform laboratory procedures under supervision, including collecting and documenting patient specimens and delivering them to the correct laboratory department. Responsibilities also include assisting with accurate data, order, and charge entry into the computer system.
The role requires functioning within approved departmental policies and regulations, and the employee is responsible for arranging and attending non-negotiable yearly mandatory education sessions. Candidates must be able to interact professionally with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
Under general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and Lab Manager, the Phlebotomist uses the laboratory process to safely perform laboratory procedures. At all times, work assignments will be determined by adjustment of laboratory test workload count. As determined by the Lab Manager, the Phlebotomist will be assigned up to 40 hours per week. The Phlebotomist is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Will be responsible to assist with orientation of personnel assigned to unit. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. Will be responsible to collect, document patient specimens, deliver them to the correct lad department. Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into computer system. Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
