Veterinary assistants provide excellent care, ensuring the comfort and cleanliness of all patients while assisting veterinarians and technicians during exams, sample collection, and diagnostic procedures. Key duties also include facilitating patient visits, managing admissions/discharges, and maintaining accurate records and communication with the medical team.
Candidates must be able to lift and restrain animals up to 50 pounds and demonstrate high initiative, good organizational skills, and the ability to remain composed during stressful emergencies. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and flexibility for shift work in a 24/7 hospital environment is mandatory.
