Perform a variety of histologic procedures on patient specimens to provide quality slides for diagnosis. Responsibilities include specimen identification, processing, embedding, sectioning, coverslipping, staining, and conducting immunohistochemical testing.
Candidates must have a 2-year Associate's degree in Science and hold a New York State License or be ASCP certified. Skills required include the ability to read SOPs, communicate effectively, and demonstrate problem-solving and team-building skills.

Perform identification of surgical and autopsy specimens Process specimens through fixation and dehydration Embed tissue samples for sectioning Sectioning of embedded tissue by using microtomy techniques Coverslip prepared slides Perform staining procedures Conduct Immunohistochemical testing Education/Accredited Programs 2yr Associates in Science Licenses/Certifications/Registrations New York State License / ASCP certified Skills/Abilities Ability to read and understand SOPS and departmental procedure and safety manuals Ability to understand communication with attending pathologist and or pathology assistant in both written and oral forms Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving and team building skills May teach and orient new staff regarding SOPS
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $26.33 to $39.50 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
