The role involves performing surgical duties in the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, which includes preparing the room, obtaining necessary supplies, and ensuring cleanliness. Responsibilities also cover performing surgical scrubs, assisting with specimen collection, and turning over the room after procedures.
The minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and less than two years of experience or military equivalent, with no prior supervisory experience needed. Preferred qualifications include graduation from an Accredited Surgical Program.
Role Purpose Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies. Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens. Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
