The Registered Practical Nurse delivers high-quality nursing care to hemodialysis patients within a team nursing model. They practice independently for patients with predictable outcomes and collaborate with Registered Nurses for complex care situations.
Candidates must hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess current BCLS certification. A minimum of one year of hemodialysis experience and completion of a medication course for RPNs are required.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Hemodialysis, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) practices independently within their scope of practice when the patient(s) condition indicates predictable outcome. The RPN delivers nursing care based on a pre-set plan of care with a delineated range of intervention. Collaboration and direction is required from the RN in situations that are beyond the scope of complexity designated to the RPN. The delivery care model is Team Nursing with a staffing mix of both RN’s and RPN’s. In addition, the RPN’s perform a variety of duties to assist the team, in accordance with the scope of practice and standards set by the hospital, Regulated Health Professionals Act and the College of Nurses of Ontario. In this role, you will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the philosophy and conceptual framework of Nursing Practice at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). This position involves rotating between CP2 Hemo, T4 Hemo, Centenary hemodialysis and the satellite hemodialysis sites.
