Job Responsibilities
Prepares all floor medication stock requisitions, carts, automated distribution machine fill lists, kits, code drawers, etc. under the supervision of the pharmacist.
Delivers and retrieves products as necessary.
Performs dispensing and reporting functions in the automated drug distribution system.
Accurately prepares medications and promptly delivers them.
Assists in compounding and dispensing medicines that are not readily available from manufacturers.
Repackages medications for unit of use and emergency kits for the ED.
Maintains the Minnesota Prescription Monitoring database.
Maintains all packaging and compounding records.
Assures the pharmacist check/verification prior to dispensing the medication.

Aseptically compounds sterile hazardous and non-hazardous products according to MN BOP and USP 797 and 800 standards.
Appropriately and promptly labels all sterile products.
Delivers admixtures to the appropriate departments.
Documents and checks stock monthly for outdated medications, proper labeling, and storage.
Analyzes automated drug distribution reports to ascertain medication usage patterns.
Assists clinical informatics staff in revising, updating, and adding/deleting medications in the EHR.
Assists the purchasing technician as necessary.
Assures that all records received are accurate and complete.
Performs duties as assigned by the pharmacist and pharmacy manager.
Effectively communicates with clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, other technicians, hospital personnel, and patients.
Answers and transfers any telephone calls requiring professional judgment to the pharmacist.
Maintains a neat, clean, orderly, and well-stocked work area.
