The Pharmacy Technician Hazardous Sterile Compounding assists Pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and distributing compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) and non-sterile drug products following SOPs and USP guidelines. This includes preparing both hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparations to ensure medications are ready for patient administration while maintaining accurate records.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with at least two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, including specific durations in non-sterile, non-hazardous sterile, and hazardous sterile compounding. A State of Connecticut Pharmacy Technician license and PTCB certification are mandatory.
The Pharmacy Technician Hazardous Sterile Compounding is responsible for assisting Pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) and non-sterile drug products.
Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and USP guidelines, prepares sterile preparations (CSPs) including both hazardous and non-hazardous sterile preparations and non-sterile drug products in order to ensure medications are ready and available for administration to the patient.
Maintains accurate records utilizing established policies and procedures.
