The specialist coordinates and secures prior authorizations for hospital and clinic services, manages outgoing referrals, and ensures compliance with payer requirements to support patient care and reimbursement. This role acts as a liaison between providers, patients, payers, and internal departments to minimize denials and care delays.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an Associate degree preferred, alongside a minimum of two years of experience in healthcare referrals, prior authorizations, or revenue cycle. Proficiency with EMR systems like EPIC, knowledge of CPT/IDC-10, and experience with various commercial and government payers are necessary.

1. Coordinate with providers and clinics to ensure appropriate scheduling and continuity of care. 2. Process outgoing referrals for specialty care. 3. Ensure referrals meet payer and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCP referrals, network rules). 4. Monitor referral workqueues and ensure timely completion.

The professional in this position reports to the Director of Revenue Cycle. Professionals in this position will work closely with patients and other Samaritan professionals within various departments.
