About the role

The fellow will focus on fundamental cellular mechanisms underlying cancer and infectious disease, with projects involving oncogenic addiction, therapeutic vulnerabilities, and molecular pathways governing host response and viral pathogenesis. Responsibilities include taking ownership of ongoing projects and developing independent research directions using advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques.

The Liang Laboratory at The Wistar Institute is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic and collaborative research team.

The lab focuses on fundamental cellular mechanisms underlying cancer and infectious disease, with an emphasis on translating discoveries into therapeutic opportunities.

We are currently recruiting for projects in: Mechanisms of oncogenic addiction and identification of novel therapeutic vulnerabilities Molecular pathways governing host response and viral pathogenesis, with therapeutic implications The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of ongoing projects with strong momentum, including transitioning studies from departing trainees, while also developing independent research directions.

Our work integrates molecular and cellular biology, cancer biology, and infection models, leveraging advanced approaches such as 3D culture systems, animal models, and multi-disciplinary strategies.

Postdoctoral fellows are expected to drive innovative projects while contributing to a team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

1) PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, or a related field; 2) Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals; 3) Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex research projects; 4) Solid background in molecular and cellular biology and/or biochemistry Preferred experience: 1) Mouse models and in vivo studies; 2) 3D culture systems or organoid models; 3) Viral systems or infection biology; 4) Bioinformatics or computational analysis Application: Applicants should submit a CV, a brief description of research interests, and contact information for three references to: Chengyu Liang, PhD (cliang@wistar.org).
