The Youth Peer Advocate provides formal and informal services to youth facing various challenges, focusing on engagement in treatment planning and skill reinforcement using a trauma-informed, positive youth development approach. Key duties include engaging youth in goal-oriented activities like problem-solving and mentoring, communicating with the care team, and accurately documenting client progress.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and be between 18 and 29 years old, having self-identified as a consumer of mental health, juvenile justice, substance use, special education, or foster care services. Essential requirements include eligibility for the Youth Peer Advocate Provisional Credential, strong computer proficiency, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
• Hours per week, reporting structure, and location are subject to change per program needs.
This is a Mandated Reporter position. The NYS Justice Center legislation defines anyone who has regular and substantial contact with any person with special needs as a “custodian” under the law and, therefore, a mandated reporter. You can be held liable by both the civil and criminal legal systems for intentionally failing to make a report.
