The Substance Use Specialist provides treatment and services to clients in the community, focusing on substance use treatment needs and ensuring clients receive appropriate care. Responsibilities include conducting community outreach, attending team meetings, and collaborating with service providers.
Candidates must have a master's level mental health license in New York State and experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Proficiency in computers and being a team player are also important.
Job Title: Substance Use Specialist
The Substance Use Specialist is a master’s level mental health clinician who outreaches clients in the community to provide treatment and services with high fidelity to the ACT model. The Substance Use Specialist provides psychoeducation and support for clients’ substance use treatment needs, including but not limited to coordination of detox or rehab referrals, assessment of clients’ current substance uses and stages of change, advocacy with service providers to ensure clients receive clinically appropriate substance use treatment. Specific titles do not limit the scope of clinical services that the staff member provides as ACT staff are both generalists and specialists, based on their areas of experience and interest.
The purpose of Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is to deliver comprehensive and effective services to individuals (age 18 and up) who are diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI) and whose needs have not been well met by more traditional service delivery approaches.
Salary: The salary for this role is $66,650 per year
25 Chapel Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
