The Surgical Tech Student assists with handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures under supervision. They must understand the procedure and maintain the sterile field to ensure quality patient care.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program. BLS certification is required within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role.
The Surgical Tech Student handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure under the direction of the Surgical Technician Preceptor. He/she understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
