The Respiratory Therapist Applicant administers basic respiratory care therapeutics and diagnostic services while performing clinical assessments of the cardiopulmonary system. They also manage ventilator support and perform diagnostic testing such as EKG and bedside spirometry under supervision.
Candidates must hold an associate degree in an accredited respiratory program and be eligible for the RT-Applicant title per Virginia law. Additionally, applicants must possess Basic Life Support certification from the AHA and hold CRT or RRT credentials upon starting.

The Inova Respiratory Therapy Residency Program focuses on advanced patient management for all ages and levels of care. Through hands-on clinical training, lectures and simulation-based education, you will enhance your patient assessment and management skills. As a resident, you will rotate and train at Inova hospitals in varying care settings.
Upon completion of the residency program, therapists who demonstrate exceptional clinical and professional skills will be invited to apply for an advanced 3-month fellowship to further their skills and specialization in respiratory care.
