Provide continuous observation of cardiac monitors at the Central Monitoring Station under the direction of nursing staff. Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond effectively to life-threatening situations.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least six months of related experience. Must hold BLS certification and complete a Basic Dysrhythmia course during orientation.
Monitor Technicians are accountable for providing continual observation of cardiac monitors at the Central Monitoring Station, under the direction of an RN or LPN. The Monitor Technician must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of electrocardiography and recognize cardiac arrhythmias. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.
