The ICU Registered Nurse will assess, plan, and implement critical nursing care for patients while collaborating with the healthcare team. They are responsible for patient education, medication administration, and participating in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.

Compensation Range

$40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience

You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Sign-On bonus

Up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility criteria.

Schedule

12-hour shifts; 7pm-7am nights, every other weekend / 24hr and 36hr shifts open.

  • What you’ll do
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients
  • Serve as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
  • Safely administer medications according to UHS policies
  • Support effective resource utilization, including staffing, time, and supplies
  • Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, Unit Council, and improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to peer review, evidence‑based practice, and quality improvement
  • Provide support and guidance to new employees and students
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator responsibilities when assigned
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training
  • Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as your expertise grows

Education & experience

Minimum required

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

Licensure & Certifications

Minimum required

• Current New York State Registered Nurse License

Preferred

  • CCRN certification
  • Additional skills certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
