The Certifying Scientist is responsible for reviewing and certifying clinical toxicology test results while ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. They also provide technical consultation, support staff training, and assist in the preparation of litigation packages and audit documentation.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science and possess at least two years of relevant laboratory experience. Proficiency in laboratory operations, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a high-volume environment are essential.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology 2 years or more of pertinent laboratory experience
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a Chemical or Biological Science 3 months or more of Certifying Scientist or Toxicology experience 6 months or more chromatography and/or mass spectrometry experience Additional Job Standards In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements Qualify as an NLCP Certifying Scientist in an appropriate time frame Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment Ability to work independently and within a team environment Excellent research and problem resolution skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a given time Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position Able to pass a standardized color blindness test Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs At Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
