  • Category: Other POSITION SUMMARY This is a flex position that requires duties as PCA, Housekeeper, and Home Care. In the role of PCA, the Resident Services Aide will assist residents with everyday living activities as needed and provide physical support to residents as required. Responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and homelike environment, record keeping, including medication charting and updating care plans as required. Recognizing and responding to the needs and changes of the residents will be the key to the success of this position. In the Housekeeper role, the Resident Services Aide will ensure that the residents are in a clean and sanitary environment. It is important that all safety and environmental hazard protocols are followed in this position to avoid any OSHA or safety violations or health hazards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assist residents with personal activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing/undressing, and ambulation. Assist with new residents’ orientation and ensure they become acclimated to the facility and others. Responsible for the safe movement around the facility of the resident. Report and document all changes in residents’ physical condition, behavior, or appearance to your supervisor. Solve routine resident issues, promote healthy lifestyle habits, and provide general companionship and advice. Documentation must be completed accurately, completely, and on time. Communicate with others in the facility efficiently and effectively, which includes interdepartmental and interdisciplinary teams for the best possible outcomes of the residents. Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. Perform regularly scheduled rounds and monitor residents’ conditions. Respond to residents’ call bells promptly. Monitor self-medicated residents as per current medication order and resident service plan. Perform day-to-day and specific housekeeping tasks as assigned or requested. Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as possible. Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units/vents, etc., in resident rooms, common areas, etc., daily as instructed. Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Ensure that watermarks are removed from fixtures. Follow proper techniques when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning. Refer to manufacturers’ instructions when necessary. All other duties as assigned General Respond to fire alarms as required (refer to Fire Safety Manual for employees’ responsibilities and those that are specific to your position. Treat all residents fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect. Maintain confidentiality of all resident and facility information. Report all complaints, concerns made by the resident, allegations of abuse or neglect to direct supervisor or the RN Supervisor. Follow all safety procedures and precautions in the performance of your duties and when operating equipment. Report all safety violations, unsafe or hazardous conditions and any equipment issues immediately. Review Corporate Compliance educational materials, comply with Corporate Compliance directives, and report any Corporate Compliance issues according to established procedures. Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of the organization. Attend trainings to build understand and capacity to undertake QAPI work. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Ability to provide care/services in a manner supportive of the Mission and Philosophy of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. Speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job. Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her own actions. Able to act in a self-confident manner to complete an assignment or to defend a position or idea. Able to make independent decisions to solve a problem or meet a goal while following facility procedures. Considerate, empathetic, hospitable, able to work with and collaborate with others, patient, respectful of individual rights and diversity, service-oriented while following facility procedures. Able to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards. Honest, loyal, mission-oriented, reliable, responsible, and aware of safety requirements.

  • Education/Training: Minimum of high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or active registry status on the Pennsylvania nurse aide registry required. Must have successfully completed the Direct Care Staff Person Training Course and Competency Test offered through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Must successfully complete an approved medication administration course as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Current training in the care of residents with diabetes. Must complete and pass this training annually. Must attain 12 hours of work-related education annually.
