The Lab Assistant performs routine technical and clerical functions, including venipuncture and the distribution of laboratory specimens. They also assist with CLIA waived laboratory tests and fulfill Hospital Incident Command System responsibilities during emergencies.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to perform blood draws independently within six weeks of hire. Completion of a phlebotomy program and six months of laboratory experience are preferred.
Performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; may perform CLIA waived laboratory tests. Performs and fulfills all HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) responsibilities as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency disaster.
