The Surgical Technologist functions as a vital member of the surgical team by maintaining a sterile environment and providing accurate instrumentation. They are responsible for anticipating surgeon needs, managing equipment, and assisting with room turnover to ensure surgical schedule efficiency.

Position Summary

Andrews ASC is seeking a skilled and dependable Surgical Technologist to join our Operating Room team. This role is essential to maintaining a sterile environment and supporting surgical procedures with precision and professionalism. The OR Scrub/Surgical Technologist utilizes surgical knowledge and training to provide accurate and efficient instrumentation in an aseptic environment under the supervision of a Charge Nurse/OR Manager

  • Key responsibilities
  • Function as a vital member of the surgical team, delivering high-quality care
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and report/correct any breaches
  • Verify patient identity and surgical site during “Time Out” procedures
  • Open and transfer sterile supplies appropriately to the sterile field
  • Demonstrate competency in scrubbing across all surgical specialties
  • Operate and manage OR equipment safely and effectively
  • Decontaminate instruments and equipment post-procedure using proper PPE
  • Assist with room turnover to maintain surgical schedule efficiency
  • Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness of equipment and workspaces
  • Participate in mandatory annual education and facility in-services
  • Serve on committees or task forces as requested

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification required
  • Surgical Technician certification preferred
  • Strong reasoning, judgment, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and accuracy
  • Computer literacy and documentation skills
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Working conditions
  • Indoor clinical setting with stable temperature
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, and occasional contact with liquids
