About the role

The Community Support Worker assists individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioral needs by providing support in their homes and communities. Responsibilities include household management, facilitating daily living activities, attending appointments, and promoting self-advocacy and independence.

KenCrest is seeking Community Support Workers to play an active and important role in empowering the individuals they support to live independently and participate fully in their communities where they live and work.

Our Community Support Workers act as advocates, companions, and facilitators while they assist program participants with intellectual disabilities and diverse behavioral and mental health needs with support in their home and community.

As a Community Support Worker, you will aid with household management, ADL’s, and errands, assist with attending appointments and providing support with self-advocacy, communication and self-expression, work towards achieving their desired goals and outcomes, and other support duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid and Current driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record (2 years' driving experience required) *Driver's License, insurance and registration must be aligned with state of permanent residence
  • Minimum two (2) years working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience working with individuals with diverse behavioral or mental health diagnoses
  • Ability to work independently in a home and/or community setting without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, understand and use technology (eg. iPad), and apply comprehensive organization skills
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening per state requirements
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and follow instructions in English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
