INTRODUCTION The Davis Community is a vibrant senior living neighborhood and has been a proud corporate citizen of Wilmington, NC for over 60 years. Established as a skilled nursing facility in the early 1960s, Davis quickly became the premier healthcare center for senior care, and while they have grown and evolved, adding to services offered, we continue to be highly regarded in the region as a community that emphasizes compassion, care, and show of respect and dignity for residents. This position will include 3 shifts per week working the hours of 7p-7am. The schedule will include every other weekend.

We are looking for caring and dedicated nurses to join our team and contribute to our unique Household Model of care. We offer a resident-focused philosophy and culture that blends into everything we do. Our vision is based on the belief that seniors needing care deserve privacy and choice in their lives which creates a home environment where residents and staff operate as a family, rather than in a hospital-like institution. Our low patient ratios allow our Nurses to enhance the quality of services while creating a warm household where residents feel at home.

Major work activities

Collect data with regard to resident’s physical and mental health including reaction to illness and treatment regimens. Record and report results of nursing assessment to physician, other personnel and responsible party as appropriate. Deliver and record licensed nursing care to include medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician as well as care outlined in the resident’s individual plan of care (ADL’s, nutrition, hydration, labs retrieval/oversight, weight oversight, therapies and restorative initiatives, splinting, assistive devices, skin audits, behavior logs, acute episodic oversight documentation, etc.). Coordinates and provides oversight to non-licensed personnel in implementing the resident’s individual plan of care. Ensure continuity of care through documentation and communication of resident status (report) to relieving personnel. Complete all clinical chart documentation according to best practice at time service rendered, prior to end of current shift, and/or by “late entry” with date, time, and legible signature or initials where appropriate. Documentation that is not time specific/shift specific, i.e. such as MDS, Care Plans, and certain summaries may be completed with signature and date on the day of documentation, completion and/or at time of review. Ensures care plan/care cards are audited to reflect current baseline functionality/interventions. Respond promptly to resident needs. Maintain safe and sanitary work environment. Participate in Quality of Care and Quality Improvement activities. Maintenance of nursing credentials to include CPR. Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the shift supervisor, Nursing Coordinator, Assistant Director of Nursing and/or the Director of Nursing.

Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Licensure/ Certification: Current North Carolina licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse

Experience

Some previous geriatric nursing experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
