Status: Non-Exempt General Description The Certified Nursing Assistant performs duties to meet the personal care needs of residents in compliance with Snyder Village policies and procedures. Job Responsibilities, Duties and Authority Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures and safety rules and regulations. Follows instructions issued by the Hall Nurse and follows established routine. Reports on and off duty. Completes all duties assigned before end of shift. Demonstrates adherence to CNA Expectations. Observes residents and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc. Reports any changes in condition to Hall Nurse. Assists residents with activities of daily living. Bathes residents as assigned - complete/partial bath, H.S. care, tub or shower. Dresses residents neatly, in their own clothing. Combs and brushes residents’ hair in a.m. and at bedtime. Trims toenails and fingernails as directed. Shaves male residents daily. Keeps female residents facial hair shaved. Keeps incontinent residents clean and dry at all times. Reports the presence of pressure areas to prevent bedsores. Changes bed linens and clothing as needed. Assists residents to and from bathroom. Provides bedfast residents with bedpans or urinals. Encourages residents to perform ADL’s which they are capable of. Assists residents with restorative and rehabilitative care, including PROMs. Transports residents to meals and supervises residents in dining rooms. Assists with trays and helps feed residents. Assists with personal care after meals (cleaning resident’s faces, hands and clothing). Makes beds, sets room in order, keeps drawers and closets neat. Fills supplies in resident’s rooms and charges out appropriately. Serves nourishments and fresh water as scheduled. Prepares residents for rests, physician visits, therapy, activities, church, etc. Transports residents and assists with the above activities as needed. Performs personal services for residents within reason such as reading to them, writing letters for them, operating TV and radio, and assisting them with recreational and therapy projects in their rooms. Maintains residents in correct and comfortable position. Turns and repositions residents at least every two hours. Uses safety devices (body alarms, restraints, etc.) correctly as ordered. Uses gait belt when transferring and walking residents. Uses proper body mechanics at all times. Assists relatives, visitors and guests. Applies standard precautions (including isolation techniques) in all resident care to prevent spread of disease and infection. Responsible to understand and care appropriately for residents with special needs, including ventilators, dementia, feeding tubes, oxygen, etc. Electronic charting required. Takes and records vital signs, weights, intake and output, and applies non-prescription ointments as directed. Answers call lights promptly. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, calm environment, personal interest and positive emphasis. Maintains a cooperative attitude with peers and other Departments. Maintains confidentiality of all resident information. Observes residents rights. Reports all accidents/incidents to the Hall Nurse as soon as possible. Assures that all work areas are clean and that equipment and supplies are properly stored. Sanitizes equipment as needed and scheduled. Empties linen barrels as assigned. Washes BM and stains from linens before putting them in the laundry hamper. Uses work orders to report any need for maintenance and repair of rooms, furniture or equipment. Gives on-the-job training to new CNAs and agency personnel as directed by the Aide Supervisor. Responsible for notifying the Hall Nurse immediately in case of resident abuse or suspected resident abuse. Performs other and related duties as assigned. VSP coverage is through Guardian but with the VSP network. Exams are a $10 copay with any in-network provider. Exams are covered once every 12 months, lenses once every 12 months, and frames are covered once every 24 months.

AD&D: Any staff member who enrolls in medical coverage will receive $10000 in company-paid life insurance and AD&D through Guardian.

Insurance: Through Guardian staff members may select additional life insurance for themselves, their spouse, or their children. A staff member can select a policy for themselves in $25000, $50000, $75000, or $100000. Spousal coverage can be selected for up to 50% of employee coverage. Coverage for children can be selected for each child up to $10000.
Short-Term
Disability: Short Term Disability insurance is provided through AFLAC. The plan is designed to replace part of a staff members’ paycheck in the case of an illness, injury or surgery that prevents you from working according to the doctor’s orders. Staff members receive approximately 60% of their gross pay. 401k: All staff members are automatically enrolled to the 401k retirement program through Empower on their 91st day of employment at 3% of their salary. However, Snyder Village will contribute and match an employee’s contribution by up to 5% on their salary. An employee is considered fully vested after 3 years of employment.

Village recognizes seven holidays as listed below: New Year’s Day Easter Sunday Memorial Day Fourth of July Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas Day Any non-exempt staff member working on the holiday will receive time and one-half of their hourly straight pay. Paid Time Off Paid Time Off (PTO) is offered to full-time and part-time workers who work more than 20 hours per week. All newly hired staff members accrue up to 2 weeks or 80 hours of PTO. Paid Personal Days All staff members regardless of classification accrue paid personal days (PPD). Each staff member accrues up to 40 hours of PPD. Sick Pay Once a full-time staff member has completed 1 year of employment, they are given 80 hours of sick time to use for a serious illness requiring more than 5 days off from work. Tuition Reimbursement Snyder Village values the professional and personal development of our staff members. Tuition reimbursement is available for education expenses such as course fees, technical training, certification programs, or other needed resources. Reimbursement will also be provided for successful certificate completion, up to six-course hours per semester. Scholarship Snyder Village provides up to 2 nursing scholarships per year to staff members pursuing an RN or LPN degree. Snyder Village also provides up to 4 C.N.A. scholarships per year to staff members who are pursuing a certified nursing assistant degree.
