Plans and oversees nursing care for patients in the PACU, Pre-op, and Step-Down departments. Executes prescribed treatment regimens and collaborates with healthcare providers to implement total health regimens.
Must be a graduate of an accredited college with a current Registered Professional Nurse state licensure. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
Duties: and Responsibilities:

1. Knows and adheres to policies of the Dunes Surgical Hospital and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
2. Follows policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
3. Plans, implements, and evaluates pre- and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician’s orders.
4. Organizes and prepares medical records of patients. Documents care appropriately and fully. Follows up on missing data and other patient care needs.
5. Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, respiratory interventions (e.g. nebulizer updraft therapy), patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and patient families, and other needed clinical competencies.
6. Provides comprehensive nursing assessment of health status of patients
a. Establishing nursing diagnosis
b. Setting goals to meet identified health care needs
c. Prescribing nursing interventions
8. Advocates for the best interest of the patient
9. Communicates and collaborates with other health care providers in the management of health care and the implementation of the total health regimen within and across settings
10. Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
11. Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
12. Actively participates in appropriate committees as assigned.
13. Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
14. Uses good body mechanics.
15. Informs management of applicable day-to-day situations.
16. Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.

Knowledge, skills, competencies, qualifications and education and/Or experience requirements:
1. Must be a graduate of accredited college or university.
2. Registered Professional Nurse with current state licensure.
3. Work experience as a professional nurse.
4. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
5. Ability to demonstrate clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.

1. Will be required to lift patients frequently requiring the ability to lift 100 pounds.
2. Must be able to exert at least 50 pounds of force to assist with patient transports.
3. Frequent standing, bending, and stooping involved.
4. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
5.
Frequent repetitive motion of hands/wrist involved.
6. Will be working in a clean, well-lighted area.
7. May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.
Direct patient contact with possible exposure to communicable diseases, exposure to radiation, anesthetic scavenger gases, and CRT.
