Relief on Call (ROC). Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. May require weekend or evening hours. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications/Position Requirements

• 1.
• Successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and have completed all fieldwork requirements.
• 2.
• Current license by the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapy.
• 3.
• Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in HC setting (other related setting acceptable), preferred.
• 4.
• Knowledge of current occupational therapy standards of practice.
• 5.
• BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire and recertification as required.
• 6.
• Knowledge and use of occupational therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence based practice to guide intervention decisions.
• 7.
• Knowledge of the federal, state, local legislation, regulations, policies and procedures that mandate and guide occupational therapy practice in hospitals.
• 8.
• Ability to maintain current reporting, documentation, scheduling, and billing in accordance with professional standards, state and local guidelines, and reimbursement requirements.
• 9.
• Ability to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the patient.
• 10.
• Ability to interpret the evaluation data and write a comprehensive report that reflects strengths and barriers to patient’s participation and occupational performance.
• 11.
• Ability to participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary HC team to develop individualized Occupational Therapy program/plan to meet patient needs.
• 12.
• Ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans based on evaluation information.
• 13.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and all other support hospital personnel.
• 14.
• Ability to influence the direction of professional rehabilitation services by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude and participation in the promotion of change to keep current with health care.
• 15.
• Organized and has the ability to manage multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of rehabilitation services.
• 16.
• Desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing the community and patients optimal care and excellent service.
• 17.
• A sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and a positive attitude.
• 18.
• Computer skills and experience with electronic medical record, preferred.
• 19.
• Skill in effective oral and written communication.
