About the role

The Specialist IV is responsible for implementing therapeutic interventions for sex abuse treatment and domestic violence programs. They will manage case outcomes through assessment, design, and delivery of clinical services to at-risk families.

Summary of duties

Under the supervision of the Program Director/ Island Director, the Specialist IV is responsible for the implementation of program services for the Sex Abuse Treatment and Domestic Violence Service for Families programs, linking the assessment, design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions with the purpose of achieving successful case outcome.

  • Masters' Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Requires knowledge of an advanced type.
  • Other (Specify): Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field from an accredited institution. Licensed preferred

EXPERIENCE • Over two years, up to and including four years. • Other (Specify)

  • A minimum of one year of experience in providing relevant services to participants.
  • Experience working with parents/caregivers who harmed their children or threatened their children with harm, and children who experienced harm or were threatened with harm and who experienced trauma and loss.
  • Experience in working with domestic violence, substances abuse, and permanency issues.
  • Experience in the area of victimology, sex therapy, human sexuality, or sex offender treatment.

  • Therapeutic interventions targeting school behavior and academic performance
  • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the participant’s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e. family, peer, school, and neighborhood)
  • Provision of group and individual clinical supervision
  • Preferred:
  • Direct use of a variety of family therapies
  • Individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques
  • Marital therapy
  • Therapeutic interventions targeting school behavior and academic performance

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver’s abstract.
  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • The nature of this position requires the incumbent to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.
