About the Role

• The LPN Extern position is designed to provide practical, hands-on clinical experience to individuals pursuing licensure as Licensed Practical Nurses.
• This role serves as a critical bridge between academic learning and professional nursing practice, allowing externs to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings under supervision.
• The primary goal is to develop clinical competencies, enhance patient care skills, and foster professional growth within a supportive environment.
• Externs will collaborate closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective care to patients.
• Ultimately, this role prepares candidates for successful transition into fully licensed practical nursing positions by building confidence, clinical judgment, and technical proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training program.
• Completion of foundational nursing coursework including anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by the healthcare facility.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting such as a volunteer or aide role.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
