The OR Technician is responsible for stocking operating room suites, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and maintaining sanitation standards. They also provide transport services for equipment and patients while ensuring compliance with regulatory documentation.
Candidates must have at least six months of experience as an operating room technician and hold a High School Diploma or GED. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and the Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGST) certification are required upon hire.
The operating room technician stocks the operating room suite, scrub basin preparatory area and equipment needed to perform operating room cases. The ORT performs tasks of cleaning, terminally disinfecting/sterilizing scopes, instruments and equipment in the operating room maintaining necessary documentation in compliance with regulatory agencies. This position works with the operating room team to help transport what is needed to the operating room suite to provide the team with stock, equipment, essentials to perform the procedure.
