About the role

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning, evaluating, and delivering comprehensive primary and preventative healthcare to patients. Duties include performing physical exams, ordering lab work, prescribing treatments, and maintaining accurate patient documentation.

Sun River Health is currently seeking Full-Time Nurse Practitioner to join our team supporting the Spring Valley site.

A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of the of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service.

Emphases preventative health measures and education of patients.

She/he will perform other duties as assigned and in compliance with systems and job specific standards.

  • Practitioner: Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and does patient education and counseling. Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams. Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate. Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Does follow-up of abnormal pap smears and reportable STD’s. Attends case conferences involving patients. Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge. Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments. Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs, such as those infants, adolescent, or geriatric patients. Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by department, organization, and overseen by Infection Control Officer. Provides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree and a valid Nurse Practitioner license in New York State. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in primary care is required, with 3+ years preferred.
