Non Certified Ophthalmic Asst

• Three days per week, 8am-5pm.
• What You Will Do Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting.
• Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history.
• Perform visual acuity.
• Perform diagnostic testing under the supervison of physicians and techs.
• These tests include visual field testing, keratometry, pachymetry, intraocular pressure check.
• Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
• Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers.
• Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly.
• Scribing for Physician.
• Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians.
• Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
• Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education High School Equivalent / GED (Required) Work Experience 1+ years experience in an Health care environment. (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic understanding of contact lens usage. (Required proficiency) Ability to work independently in a high stress environment. (Required proficiency) Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency) Use of general office equipment, including telephone, pager, and fax machines. Basic computer skills.
