The position requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a preference for up to one year of laboratory experience.

The Verma lab in the Department of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician II. Our group studies the causes and consequences of the DNA damage response in cancer. More specifically, our interests include understanding the molecular mechanisms dictating responses to chemotherapeutics that target DNA damage, decoding how cancer cells deal with challenges to DNA replication, and identifying the endogenous DNA lesions that fuel genomic instability in BRCA-mutant cancers. Our research integrates cutting-edge CRISPR genetic screen approaches with various other molecular, cell biology and computational tools. This is a great opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of cancer biology in a highly supportive environment. Enthusiasm for science along with good organization and communication skills are essential. Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
