The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing routine and terminal cleaning. They must also ensure proper handling of cleaning chemicals, biohazard waste, and adherence to infection control protocols.
The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in healthcare or hospitality settings. They must be able to follow safety guidelines, operate cleaning equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and treatment areas according to established schedules and procedures Perform terminal cleaning of rooms as needed (discharges, transfers, isolation rooms) Properly use and store cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines and SDS requirements Follow infection control, OSHA, CDC, and facility policies at all times Dispose of waste, biohazard materials, and soiled linens in compliance with facility protocols Refill paper goods, soap dispensers, and hand sanitizer stations Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment promptly Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers Maintain resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times Participate in in-service training, safety meetings, and performance improvement initiatives Assist with special cleaning projects and emergency clean-ups as assigned Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment (vacuums, floor machines, carts) Work Environment Skilled nursing facility with frequent interaction with residents Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and infectious materials (PPE provided) Indoor work environment with varying noise levels Compliance & Standards Adheres to all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations, including CMS and Washington State Department of Health requirements Maintains required training, certifications, and competencies Why Join Olympic View Post Acute Supportive team-oriented environment Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives Competitive pay and benefits (as applicable) Ongoing training and growth opportunities QualificationsQualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous housekeeping experience in healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality preferred (training provided) Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English Basic understanding of infection control practices preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team
